Prop h8 (tolerance)

Day 18 → Your views on gay marriage.

I have a mixed view. I as a Christian believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman. The Bible says it is wrong but all sins are the same, and Jesus DID die for our sins so that we may be saved. I believe that God still loves his people no matter what. I know lots of really bad people that go to church and some really good people that don’t. Which one do you consider to be evil then? Personally, I do not agree with homosexuality…

As far as marriage goes, a constitutional right, I believe that the government is wrong in banning same sex marriage. And furthermore, I would like to have them grant me the same freedoms to practice my faith if the shoe was on the other foot.

That’s where your separation of church and state comes in. We all know what happened to Sodom and Gomorrah. Perhaps the problem is in the constitution itself but then what would we be as a country without it? If America was indeed set up to be a Christian nation, then the whole set-up was flawed from the beginning. God’s kingdom is not of THIS world while politics and government ARE. If we are to be citizens of God’s kingdom, how can we be citizens of this one? Man can not serve two masters. Kyle put it a good way one day. “I don’t belong here so none of it upsets me, it’s just that I DO currently reside here.”

I have many friends who are gay or lesbian and I love them just the same and do not judge because it’s really not my place. I don’t mind that one of my good friends has a girlfriend. I’m happy for her because she’s happy and would much rather double date with them than some of my other friends.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that I don’t care what other people do because it’s none of my business. The Bible says to work out your OWN salvation and DO NOT JUDGE so I listened. I still have a few logs in my eye (like cussing like a sailor and such) and until I am perfect, I shouldn’t be going around telling other people about the speck in theirs. If we are to bring people out of sin into Christ, we should lead by example and do so in LOVE. Not to lord it over them and force them to do what we want.
